Thanks Anton.Apologies for not making my question very clear.Actually i have an standalone java application running on a remote server where the application will be triggered using java command periodically using a scheduled shell script. From the link you have mentioned I can add the agentpath as an argument and the profiler will be triggered every time the application is called. But how do i see the output of the profiler? I was trying to get this information from the help pages but could not find it. Can you please help on that? Thanks. Posts: 9 Joined: Fri Jan 21, 2011 6:14 am.
But how do i see the output of the profiler? This depends on what kind of profiling you need: CPU profiling, memory profiling, monitor profiling etc. please see the Help index to find what kind of information the profiler can provide:After you decide what you need, specify appropriate startup options, for example, to start CPU profiling:To save the profiled results to a snapshot file on the profiled application exit, please specify startup option 'onexit=memory' or 'onexit=snapshot', depending on what you need.

Thanks Anton, I followed the links provided by you and tried to invoke a java application using the start up option. However i was able to see only a log file created in my home directory ($home/.yjp/logs/3949.log) and NOT able to see the snapshot file in-spite of mentioning it in the start up options as given below.Code: java -agentpath:/apps/testapp/yjp-9.5.3/bin/linux-x86-64/libyjpagent.so=dir=/home/testteam/YK/ -classpath $cpath1:$cpath2 com.app.testit.batch.job.VetsProcessor /apps/logs/vets.logCan you please advice if am missing anything here? And my plan is to download the snapshot files to my local PC and view it using the Yourkit Profiler UI. Is my approach correct? Posts: 9 Joined: Fri Jan 21, 2011 6:14 am. To save the profiled results to a snapshot file on the profiled application exit, please specify startup option 'onexit=memory' or 'onexit=snapshot', depending on what you need. Please find detail in the same help topic:What you actually did withCode: -agentpath:/apps/testapp/yjp-9.5.3/bin/linux-x86-64/libyjpagent.so=dir=/home/testteam/YK/.was making the application start with the profiler agent and specifying an alternate snapshot directory. You need more options than 'dir'.

Thanks a lot. Also, I am try to connect to my remote server where profiler is running from my local PC via port 1000. But currently the port 10001 is closed at server end and as per our security policy i need to raise a request to open the port 10001 along the Protocol used. Can you please confirm if the protocol used by Yourkit is going to be TCP/IP to listen the profiler at server via Port 10001 or is it going to be a different port? Thanks,Bala.
